The RODECS ® System
The RODECS® system is the world's only Industrial universal gasification system. The system could process universally any type of waste material without the need for any type of pre-processing. The RODECS® system is protected by multiple patents granted worldwide.
The RODECS® System has been in operation continuously since year 2000 in industrial plants processing a wide range of material. The system design, features, capability, and capacity have evolved over the years from its Generation One design to the much more advanced Generation Nine system with expanded production capacity with heat, fuel, and power production capability. Newer Generation RODECS® plants are installed and being installed in numerous sites through the US and Europe. The new generation expanded production capacity plant is capable of processing up to 80,000 tons of waste material per year, producing high quality syngas that runs both gas engines and gas turbines (successfully running with chinook technology processing thousands of hours worth of organic-based waste material "including raw MSW"). The RODECS® System is currently being used in nine countries in four continents.
The RODECS® Line, composed of two RODECS® systems is scalable in design, stackable and expandable; yielding tremendous flexibility to users demands and needs. The minimum annual production is currently designed to process community scale 30,000 tons of organic-based waste per year, and maximum size single unit is up to 80,000 tone of organic-based waste per year. The main feature of the RODECS system, is the unique capability of processing raw MSW material without the need for pre-processing the waste. Combining this with the unique capability of recovering all the valuable recyclates (metals) from the waste, and ultra high carbon conversion efficiency makes the RODECS the ultimate Recycling and power generation system, hence the term "End Stage Recycling®"
A combination of simplicity in operation, and sturdy industrial design is the hallmark of the RODECS® system. The system is designed to operate in the very harsh foundry environment.
The single unique design and inventive step in the RODECS® system is the ability to incorporate the ACTIVE PYROLYSIS® concept within its patented design, instrumentation, program, and operation. The combined Active Pyrolysis concept and RODECS® design enabled the RODECS® to accept any type or shape of organic-waste and process it with unsurpassed efficiency in operation and in compliance with emissions without any pre-processing step.
Standard loading and unloading foundry equipment are used to interface with the RODECS® system, the system operates under a very strict atmosphere.
The RODECS® processing chamber operates in a fully controlled atmosphere. All aspects of the processing chamber atmosphere is monitored very closely and controlled very strictly at all times. The processing chamber operating temperature range is [450o C - 600o C] depending on the waste material being processed. This temperature ensures that the non-ferrous metal is fully preserved and not being oxidized. Furthermore, this temperature ensures that no molten metal, molten glass, or any type of slag is formed or produced inside the process chamber. The synthetic gas generated from the gasification process is further heated and conditioned in the reformer at a specially controlled atmosphere and with a temperature range of [1200o C - 1400o C]. Hence all harmful substances that could be destroyed thermally are treated thoroughly and appropriately.
The produced ultra-clean synthetic gas is treated according to the off take requirements, if the steam is required, then the synthetic gas is fully combusted, and the heat is used to generate the steam in the boiler. If the liquid alcohol is the target product, then the synthetic gas is further scrubbed, cleaned, conditioned, and stored prior to entering the Alcohol synthesis loop.
